It's official now: the Galaxy S24 trio is here. Even before that, we knew what colors Samsung had prepared for us from the leaks, and there were no big surprises. We have light shades of yellow, purple, blue, green and gray for all models. Don't get me wrong, these colors are beautiful and very well executed, but for some people it's missing an option. And as you can see from the title, what I mean is a bold, bold color option. Let's talk about it.

Samsung plays it safe with colors: and it has for a while

Yes the Galaxy S24 This year's colors are, in theory, not the same as last year's S23. The shades are indeed different, but they remain basically the same way, right?

We still have a muted purple/violet, we still have a muted yellow/white (the cream for the S23), and the usual suspects of black and gray, etc. We don't need to look at the entire Galaxy S24. colors to know that the similarities don't end there. As exclusive colors we get light blue, light green and light orange this year.

The S24 Ultra sports different colors this year to highlight the new Titanium design. But yet, the shades are similar: purple, yellow, black and gray. For Ultra, we get Titanium Orange which is a little closer to a bold color, but is also still very undersaturated.

As for a bold color from Samsung, the only recent example we have (kind of) is the exclusive red for the Galaxy S23 Ultra. It is not available this year.

When we talk about colors, we cannot escape the fact that they are not chosen at random. Let's briefly discuss… a fashion principle, shall we?

Trends and brands: one does it first, the others copy; or why isn't Samsung stepping up its efforts?

You could say Samsung is sticking to trends when it comes to Galaxy S24 colors. It's one thing that these colors look high end, they look elegant and everything. But if you know a thing or two about fashion, you know that big brands generally set the tone for what's hot and what's not. Yes, I'm referring to fashion here, and even if Samsung isn't Gucci, it's the same principle. The company is one of the largest in the technology market, has an excellent reputation for design and is best placed to offer something new in terms of colors. If a lesser-known Chinese company does it, we might not pay as much attention, but if Samsung does it… then the rest is history, right?

When it comes to trends, Samsung seems to be following them rather than setting the tone. All around us, flagship phones feature subdued colors (including Samsung's biggest competitor – Apple, and even the Pixels have become rather simplistic in terms of color), and we don't see anything standout or ready to work.
Samsung is well-positioned to set a new tone. For example, imagine a red Galaxy S24 Ultra with this imposing Titanium design. A bright, vibrant red. Or maybe why not a very bright yellow that screams “look at me!” “.

So how about a new approach: two colors that go well together (something like the custom edition, but as a main color option)? Why not go one step further and offer a true galaxy-inspired color option?

Or what about the futuristic look: Samsung's event was all about “Welcome to the Future”, but you have the same light blue color as previous iterations of the Galaxy! We have the Nothing Phone which attempts something along the lines of a futuristic look with its glyphs, but what if Samsung could come up with something even better?

Sure, maybe recommending these options might seem cheesy, but think about it. Samsung's design, overall, is impressive. Honestly, no matter what color you apply to them, they will still look high end, right? I'm not saying Samsung should go for a cheap shiny phone or copy Nothing. But we should at least think about creating a new color trend. Hopefully, the company will look into this issue in the future and bring some innovation in this department as well.
