Samsung has quietly put the Galaxy A25 5G mid-ranger on sale in the US alongside the Galaxy S24،
Given that Samsung's best-selling smartphone globally in Q2 2023 was a member of the company's non-flagship family, the Galaxy A, you might have expected models like the A15 and A25s go on sale in key markets like the US with at least a little buzz around them. We obviously don't talk Galaxy S24 series: levels of excitement and glitz, but… something.
That's right, the 5G-enabled Galaxy A15 and Galaxy A25 didn't even get their own entry (or entries) on Samsung's official US newsroom portal, simply appearing in many places around the web without any fanfare, and yes, already shipping nationwide for the tech giant's most cash-strapped fans.
Where to buy the Galaxy A25 5G?
Unveiled internationally last month alongside the obviously more humble A15, the 6.5-inch Galaxy A25 isn't currently available from any major US carrier, which is almost stranger than the debut strangely discreet regional itself. The only carrier that has the handset on its website as of this writing is
Xfinity Mobilewhere you can get the A25 5G from just $12.49 per month with no upfront payment and the choice of a new line or upgrade to an existing line.
Multiplied by 24, that works out to a total of around $300, which happens to be the US list price of the Galaxy A25 5G. The phone is also available at this price directly from Samsung, as well as Amazon and Best Buy, although the latter two retailers sweeten the local launch deal (a bit) by offering a $25 gift card for a probably limited duration.
Only covered in black (or “blue black”) in the US, the A25 comes with a decidedly generous 128GB of internal storage and a respectable 6GB of RAM, while obviously taking into account supports microSD expansion for digital collectors needing this sort of thing.
Samsung of course offers trade-in discounts that can far exceed the $25 value of Amazon and Best Buy's introductory gift, but to be perfectly honest with you, they're really not that great, going up to $200 $…if you're ready to part with something like the Galaxy Note 20 Ultra,

Should you buy the Galaxy A25 5G?
This is really something you'll have to decide for yourself after carefully analyzing the strengths and weaknesses of the new phone, as well as those of other devices in the same price bracket. A fairly obvious weakness of the Galaxy A25 2024 is its completely outdated design with screen bezels that are far too thick and a centered notch rather than a more “modern” perforation.
On the bright side (literally and figuratively), this mid-ranger comes with a very premium 6.5-inch Super AMOLED display offering a resolution of 2340 x 1080 pixels (aka FHD+), a maximum brightness of 1000 nits, and silky smooth 120Hz refresh rate technology.
The 50MP rear-facing main
camera also sounds great, especially by budget standards, with optical image stabilization and plenty of other tricks up its sleeve. The 8 MP secondary shooter and especially the 2 MP tertiary sensor on the back of the A25 certainly aren't as impressive, but that's where Samsung's stellar software support and a hefty 5-inch battery 000 mAh with 25W charging capabilities come into play to compensate for some of these shortcomings and conclude an overall package. solid value proposition.
Is the Galaxy A25 5G better or at least as good as the
Motorola Edge (2023), which is very often marked down by $250 from a “regular” price of $599.99? Definitely not. Can it hold its own against something like the Moto G Power 5G (2023) or the OnePlus Nord N30 5G? We certainly think so, although Samsung could consider a price cut of around $50 to further improve the Galaxy A25 5G's competitiveness in a cutthroat low-cost smartphone market segment.
