Warriors assistant Dejan Milojevic, 46, dies after heart attack

Golden State Warriors assistant coach Dejan Milojevic died Wednesday after suffering a heart attack, the team announced. He was 46 years old.

Milojevic was hospitalized Tuesday night in Salt Lake City after suffering a heart attack during a private team dinner.

The NBA has already postponed the Warriors' game Wednesday in Utah against the Jazz.

Milojevic joined Steve Kerr's team with the Warriors in 2021 and is a beloved and popular coach in the NBA and international basketball community. His main mission with the Warriors was working with the team's forwards and centers.

As a coach, he led Buducnost to the professional league title and to a national cup in Montenegro and the Serbian national cup. He also coached Mega in the Serbian league and is closely associated with the early development of two-time NBA MVP Nikola Jokic of the Denver Nuggets.

As a player, the 6-foot-7, 250-pound Milojevic was a three-time Adriatic Basketball Association MVP and led the league in scoring twice. He also won the Yugoslav Cup and EuroBasket in 2001.
