Samsung Wallet rolls out mobile driver’s licenses in Arizona،
Samsung Wallet, the app that allows users to store and manage their cards, tickets and coupons on their Samsung Galaxy smartphones, has added a new feature: mobile driver's licenses and state IDs. The company announced in October that it would bring the feature to Arizona and Iowa. However, other than “later this year”, no specific date has been given as to when exactly it will go live.
This feature provides more convenience and security to users as they do not need to carry their physical cards with them and risk losing or damaging them. Digital credentials are also encrypted and protected by fingerprint or PIN authentication, so only the authorized user can access them.
This convenience is not limited to air travel, however. Samsung envisions a future in which digital IDs can be used to verify age, enter age-restricted establishments and even rent a car. While Arizona is the first to experience this revolution, Samsung promises to add more states and features in the near future.
