Australia def Sri Lanka, David Warner could be fined after reaction to dismissal, how did Warner get out, latest, updates،

David Warner could face disciplinary action from the ICC after reacting angrily to his dismissal during Australia’s victory over Sri Lanka.

Warner looked in fine form early on against Sri Lanka, hitting Lahiru Kumara for a six and a four in the first over of Australia’s innings.

However, Warner’s blistering start came to an abrupt halt with the first ball of the fourth.

Sri Lanka’s Dilshan Madushanka fired a ball that didn’t bounce as high as Warner had expected and although he tried to make the adjustment, the ball flew off his pads.

The ball looked like it might have come down the leg stump but Sri Lanka made a vocal appeal and got their wish when umpire Joel Wilson raised his finger.

Warner immediately revised the decision, convinced that the ball had missed the stumps.

Unfortunately for the 36-year-old, his test was unsuccessful as ball tracking technology showed that Madushanka’s throw would have clipped his leg stump, meaning it was a decision close of the referee.

Given that Wilson’s cue was out, that meant Warner was on course for just 11 runs from six deliveries.

It’s safe to say he wasn’t happy with the decision and seemed to have choice words as he left the field.

“He understands the David Warner message. He’s not very happy about it,” Ian Smith said in commentary.

“But he can’t argue with the technology. He leaves the ground angry, it’s fair to say.

Aaron Finch disagreed, however, saying: “You can absolutely understand why David Warner wasn’t happy.

“Live, it just didn’t look like it was going to crash in the middle, or the middle and the leg. And the referee’s call.

“It’s the fine line. The umpire doesn’t give it, so David Warner is still batting. It’s just a severed leg stump.

But his audible frustrations could come at a price, as players can be fined for “excessive and obvious disappointment with an umpire’s decision”, under the ICC Code of Conduct.

Sri Lanka followed Warner’s wicket by dismissing Steve Smith for a duck at the same time, leaving Australian fans pondering a third consecutive World Cup defeat.

However, the Australians steadied the ship through Mitchell Marsh, Marnus Labuschagne and Josh Inglis to claim a well-deserved five-wicket victory to get their World Cup campaign back on track.
