Meta Messenger ramps up security with default end-to-end encryption and rolls out new features،
Meta's Messenger steps up its game by making end-to-end encryption the default for private chats and calls. This added layer of security ensures that your messages and calls are safe from prying eyes, ensuring privacy from the sender's device to the recipient's. Meta points out that even the company can't view your messages unless you choose to report a message.

The company is also rolling out a handy new addition, the “Disappearing Messages” feature, which keeps your messages visible for just 24 hours in end-to-end encrypted conversations. The improved interface makes it easier to see when this feature is enabled.

Another privacy-focused feature is also rolling out, and it will likely be welcomed by many users. Have you ever accidentally opened a message or just wanted to read it but didn't respond immediately? This can be difficult, especially once the receiver sees that you have viewed it. With the upcoming Read Receipt Control feature, you can decide whether others can see when you've read their messages.
According to Meta, Messenger users share more than 1.3 billion photos and videos daily. In response to this important activity, the company is improving the user experience by making photos and videos more accessible. This includes improvements to image quality, introducing fun layouts, and adding additional controls so you can respond or react to any photo or video in a collection.

Voicemail is also getting an update, now allowing you to play voice messages at 1.5x or 2x speeds, resume listening to a voice message where you left off, and continue to listen to a voice message when you exit the chat or app.
For Messenger's more than 1 billion users, end-to-end encryption by default will take a few months to roll out globally. Once your chats are upgraded, you'll need to set up a recovery method, like a PIN, to ensure you can restore messages if your device changes or is lost. The other new features should be available immediately.
