HOUSTON — The Texans suffered a major blow to their receiving corps as wide receiver Tank Dell suffered a season-ending fractured fibula, sources confirmed to ESPN.

The injury occurred with 3:53 remaining in the first quarter of Sunday's 22-17 victory over the Denver Broncos, when Texans running back Dameon Pierce rushed for a 3-yard touchdown to give 9-0 lead in Houston. Dell was blocking the play and one of his legs got caught in a pile of Broncos defenders as he fell to the ground.

The medical cart came out for Dell as his teammates gathered around him. He was officially sent off at halftime.

Entering the game, Dell had 47 catches for 709 yards and seven touchdowns. He had a streak of four straight games where he had at least one touchdown.

NFL Network was first to report the nature of Dell's season-ending injury.
