Spotify expands partnership with Google to improve its platform

Spotify continues to double down on its AI tools efforts with a new strategic partnership aimed at improving various aspects of its platform. The music streaming company announcement Earlier today, it decided to expand its partnership with Google Cloud, Spotify’s preferred cloud provider since 2016.

The partnership will see improvements to critical parts of Spotify that are useful to both content creators and consumers. One of the main aspects of the streaming service that will benefit from the expanded partnership is content discovery.

Spotify uses large language models to understand its content library and augment the metadata used to present content to users on a daily basis. Content discovery is one of the most important features not only for consumers but also for content creators, so Spotify is trying to make this feature work better.

Personalized recommendations are another important aspect that will see improvements following today’s announcement. Spotify is actively working to improve the listening experience by using extended language models (LLM) to understand the patterns behind users’ favorite content, including podcasts and audiobooks, to provide accurate recommendations.

Last but not least, secure eavesdropping is the primary security aspect that will benefit from the expanded partnership. Providing a safer listening experience and identifying potentially harmful content should be mandatory for every streaming service.
