Super League club Hull FC have confirmed the signing of utility Fa’amanu Brown for the 2024 season.

Brown appeared in a total of seven NRL games this season first with the Bulldogs (5) and before ending the season with the Knights (2).

The 28-year-old utility, who has represented Samoa in eight test matches and has been named in the New Zealand squad for this year’s Pacific Championships, said he’s willing to play whatever position to help his new team.

“I’ve watched a fair bit of Super League on TV whilst I’ve been in Australia and I kept up with it whilst I was at Featherstone in the Championship. The fans over in England are crazy!” Brown told hullfc.com.

“I’ve had a really good chat with (head coach) Tony Smith and we just clicked straight away. To be honest, we didn’t chat about footy that much. It was mostly about life away from footy and he said that if everything is looking after itself off-the-field, then you’ve got a good chance of performing at your best on the field. I think that’s part of having a successful team

“I debuted in the NRL at five-eighth and I’ve played a bit of hooker. But like I said to Tony, wherever you put me I will do a job and I’m willing to die for the club whose colours I wear on my back.”

Brown is the latest member of a strong recruiting class to sign with Hull FC. Former Bulldogs Jayden Okunbor and Franklin Pele will also join the Super League side from 2024 in addition to Herman Ese’ese, who played for the Dolphins in 2023.

TIGERS LOCK DOWN PROMISING YOUNG GUN

The Wests Tigers have re-signed Alex Seyfarth on a two-year deal that will keep him at the club until the end of 2025.

Seyfarth was one of 40 players without a deal for 2024 before the prop put pen to paper on Friday.

The 24-year-old made his NRL debut at the Tigers in 2020 and has 47 first-grade appearances to his name.

“He is a great kid who is a team first man and who gives his everything week in week out,” rookie coach Benji Marshall said.

“He has a great attitude towards training, competes on every play on the field, and has a lot to offer our club going forward.”

Seyfarth has struggled with injuries in recent years and is determined to cement his spot next season under Marshall.

“I’m really happy to sign my third contract with the club that I always wanted to play for as a kid,” Seyfarth said.

“Benji was a hero for so many young kids growing up, and now here I am being coached by him. I think he’ll do a great job.

“I’m looking forward to having a strong pre-season and being injury free. This time last year I was still recovering from pec surgery, so it will be good to hit the ground running.”

RABBITOHS WRECKING BALL RE-SIGNS

The Rabbitohs have received a major boost with star second-rower Keaon Koloamatangi signing a two-year extension that will keep him at the club until the end of 2026.

Koloamatangi was already contracted until the end of 2024, but the club has moved to lock him in before he could hit the open market from Novemner 1.

It comes after the 25-year-old said earlier this week that he would “probably make a decision” on his future when he returns from England, where he’s representating Tonga in a three-match international series.

Koloamatangi was reportedly on the radar of the Raiders and Dragons but will remain at the club he made his NRL debut for in 2020.

“It means the world to me and my family to be re-signing with the Rabbitohs,” Koloamatangi said.

“We had a bit to think about going into November 1 and I wanted to get something done before then with the club.

“I’m grateful that everything has panned out. My family and I are happy and we think that Souths is the best place to be for our future.

“There’s massive belief here that we can win comps. We’ve been very close in recent years so I didn’t want to leave and throw away all of the hard work we’ve done, as well as the hard work we have in front of us. That’s not in my DNA.

“The Rabbitohs are always in the forefront of my mind and I want to win at least one comp here before I retire.”

TIGERS LOCK IN FAN FAVOURITE

The Wests Tigers have re-signed fan favourite Alex Twal on a three-year deal that will keep him at the club until the end of 2027.

Twal, 27, has played 124 NRL games for the Tigers since making his debut in 2027 and has become one of the most loved players in the current squad.

The Lebanon international was the talk of the game in Round 16 when he scored his first NRL try, breaking a 115-game drought.

Twal was already locked in until the end of 2024, but by securing him before November 1, the Tigers have prevented him from becoming a free agent and allowing rival clubs to table offers.

“This club means so much to me and I’m just so happy to extend my stay long-term,” Twal said via a club statement.

“I made my NRL debut here at Wests Tigers and it feels like family.

“We have so much still to achieve as a club and a team, and so do I as a player. I can’t wait to put 2023 behind us and rip into pre-season training in a few weeks.”

Meanwhile, head coach Benji Marshall lauded his commitment to the team as a contributing factor in the club’s decision to re-sign him long term.

“He works hard, prepares well, and delivers consistently week in, week out,” Marshall said.

“He is a big part of the Wests Tigers family, and we love his commitment and loyalty to our club.”

TITANS REWARD RISING STAR

The Gold Coast Titans have locked in exciting forward Jacob Alick for 2024 after a breakout season in which he made his NRL debut.

Alick is coming off a huge 12 months that saw him not only play four NRL games, but also make his international debut for PNG at last year’s Rugby League World Cup and be named Queensland Cup’s 2023 Second-rower of the Year.

The 23-year-old will again represent the Kumuls in the upcoming Pacific Championships.

He starred for Burleigh in their run to the Queensland Cup Grand Final, scoring 12 tries and getting 13 linebreaks in 19 games. He also averaged 117 running metres and 24 tackles per game.
