Not Family Man, Mirzapur, or Sacred Games, This Web Series is the Most Watched Indian Show of 2023،
The popularity of OTT content has reached an all-time high over the past few years, as various OTT giants continue to offer a plethora of content suitable for all age groups and personalities. While thousands of web series and movies are released on OTT platforms every year, some selective series become more popular than all others. In 2023 itself, a web series has left many popular shows behind in terms of viewership. Read on to find out which series it is.
Most Watched Indian Web Series of 2023
Earlier in 2023, industry tracking agency Ormax Media released a list of the top 10 most-watched Indian web series, based on views received in a single season. Although Ormax did not reveal which method they used, the list was considered credible because Ormax’s track record has been good.
Surprisingly, leaving behind heavyweights like Mirzapur, Sacred Games, Family Man, Scam 1992 and many others, Shahid Kapoor-starrer Farzi is topping the list to become the most watched Indian show of 2023. Raj and DK’s Farzi had 37 million views when the list was compiled and the views have now crossed 40 million. The show premiered on Amazon Prime Video in February 2022.
2sd on the list are Rudra: The Edge of Darkness with 35.2 million views and The Night Manager with 28.6 million views. While Ajay Devgn-starrer Rudra released in March on Disney+Hotstar, The Night Manager starring Aditya Roy Kapoor also released in February and June on Disney+Hotstar. British show Lucifer had 35 million views while Mirzapur and Panchayat had 32 million and 29.6 million views respectively.

Farzi is a crime thriller about counterfeit money. It is about a disillusioned artist who is unable to keep his grandfather’s printing business. He then decides to make counterfeit money with his best friend but is challenged by a gangster and a cop.
It is confirmed that the show will return with a 2sd season.

The Ormax report claims that theatrical releases on OTT have outperformed originals launched on OTT platforms. The survey was conducted based on audience reaction and engagement around new OTT releases. Films like Gadar 2, OMG 2 and Jawan have generated more buzz than the OTT originals. More than 150 Hindi web shows and direct-to-OTT films have been released since mid-November, claims Ormax.
