Apple’s Vision Pro is one of the most promising mixed reality headsets of all time. In the limited images shown by the company, the headset appears to create a perfect blend of the physical world around a user and the virtual elements using visionOS. However, the storefront primarily contained Apple apps and services, making users slightly skeptical about using other apps. That changed on November 14, 2023, when Telegram unveiled its visionOS app.

Pavel Durov teases Telegram for visionOS

In a short video, Telegram founder Pavel Durov explains what the app could look like on Apple’s visionOS, the operating system that powers the Vision Pro mixed reality headset. It displays the app screen with Telegram in the center and other Apple services like App Store, Mail, Message, Notes, Music, etc.

The next thing the teaser shows is what the messaging interface would look like. As shown in the video, visionOS will place a translucent Telegram interface above the video feed with users’ surroundings, with the inbox on the left and the current chat on the right.

Telegram’s translucent windows look great

Other Telegram menus, such as profile, calls and settings, should be available on a vertical bar outside the main translucent window, towards the left. The video also shows how users can view photos and videos on Telegram by blurring the surrounding passage using the Vision Pro’s digital crown.

Other features include full-screen animations, status updates, and voice typing. Additionally, the app looks great on visionOS, especially since it appears to have used Vision Pro’s capabilities, such as passthrough throttling.

However, readers should remember that this is just the first look at how Telegram will look on visionOS, and there’s a good chance the app will make some changes in the future. Nonetheless, Apple plans to unveil the Vivion Pro in early 2024. Although it is initially coming to the United States, it is unclear when the device might debut in other markets, including India.
