Google News is discontinuing the support for magazines and removing libraries،
Google cuts a lot: Soon, Google News will end support for magazines and you have a limited window of time to act.
The end of all support for magazine content in Google News will begin one week before Christmas, on December 18, 2023 (via Android titles). Those who subscribe to this type of content will need to find another way to access their favorite magazines.
For the remaining month (and a few days), Google will allow users to export and backup their purchased magazine content. Those who subscribe to magazines with interactive elements will be able to be reimbursed by Google.
Here’s what a member of the Google News team shared on the subject:
Support for magazine content in Google News will no longer be supported as of December 18, 2023. This means that if you have already purchased or subscribed to magazines, accessing your magazine library from Google apps News or news.google.com will be removed. To continue to access previously purchased magazine content, we offer the ability to export and save each purchased issue. In some cases, purchased magazines contain interactive elements that cannot be downloaded or saved for later access, and we offer a refund for this content.
As a reminder, Google News plays a central role in the media landscape, supporting more than 2,300 media outlets. Every month, it generates more than 24 billion clicks to publisher websites through Google Search and Google News. The abrupt disappearance of support for magazines raises questions about users’ changing media consumption habits.
