With the announcement that Samsung’s foldable devices won’t get any cheaper any time soon, we can still find solace – and a really nice phone – in the lower end of the Galaxy.

You mean the Galaxy A55? No, I mean the upcoming Galaxy A25 5G (let’s ditch the “5G” and just call it “A25” for simplicity).

A report from Android Headlines sheds light on the specifications of the upcoming affordable Galaxy A25 and there is something new compared to what was previously said about the yet-unreleased phone.

The biggest news is that the Galaxy A25 could receive an all-new front camera – and a powerful one. The Galaxy A25 could borrow the selfie camera from the Galaxy A54, which sports a 32 MP sensor with a 123-degree FoV (field of view) lens: that means you’re about to get wide-angle selfies, potentially capturing more of your surroundings and more of your friends in the photo.

If this continues, this could be a huge update to the Galaxy A24’s 13MP selfie shooter. Additionally, there will be (allegedly) IP67 dust and water resistance. But back to the Galaxy A25’s cameras for another rumor: the phone is expected to feature a higher-resolution ultra-wide camera (a jump from 5 MP to 8 MP). The 2 MP macro camera can be left unchanged. The main rear camera is expected to offer OIS (Optical Image Stabilization).

What else?

Apart from this, users should expect the Galaxy A25 to feature a 6.44-inch Super AMOLED display with FHD+ resolution at 90Hz or 120Hz refresh rate. Samsung will likely install its internal chip Exynos 1280. Of the total eight cores, two will be ARM Cortex-A78 (clocked at 2.4 GHz) and the rest – Cortex-A55 at 2.0 GHz. Samsung is preparing the phone in two memory and storage configurations: 6GB+128GB and 8GB+. 256 GB. You also get support for microSD cards with a capacity of up to 1 TB. The device will run Android 14 out of the box, which means a One UI 6 experience from day one. You get NFC connectivity here, as well as Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, and dual SIM support. The phone features 25W fast charging via a USB-C port, with an expected 5,000mAh battery.

Finally, the source claims that the Galaxy A25 could get four major Android OS updates – as many as the Galaxy S23 series. No release date is mentioned, but an announcement in the first months of 2024 is expected.
