iPhone with Android? UK buyer gets a surprise with Android phone in iPhone 15 Pro Max disguise،

Apple’s latest iPhone 15 series hit shelves nearly two months ago, and orders continue to pour in, breaking iPhone revenue records. Among the millions of units shipped, one particular case emerged: revealing at least one fake unit in the mix.

Editor Edmard (via Android Authority), who ordered an iPhone 15 Pro Max from the official Apple store in the United Kingdom, received a surprise: a fake device equipped with Android. Despite receiving all the necessary delivery confirmations from Apple and tracking details from delivery partner Dynamic Parcel Distribution (DPD), the moment the box was opened, things took an unexpected turn.

The buyer’s suspicions grew when he noticed a pre-installed screen protector, which made him think about a possible unit return from Apple. However, closer inspection reveals a more disturbing reality.

When the smartphone started, Edmard quickly realized: “it was an Android device in a skin” Skipping through the configuration settings, the user encountered Facebook, TikTok, and YouTube pre-installed on the screen. Describing the experience, the buyer mentioned: “the operating system is broken and horrible, the camera looks like a slideshow and crashes if you try to use an on-screen UI element.

Taking a cautious step, the user refrained from logging into accounts including Apple ID and Apple Wallet, recognizing the potential risks associated with unauthorized access to personal data. Their main motivation in sharing this story is to warn others, noting: “there are many people who get these phones, and some may think it’s legit and log into it using their Apple ID, Facebook account, Google account, etc.“.

The buyer quickly alerted Apple to the fake unit and is awaiting a response. Acquiring a fake iPhone directly from the official Apple store is quite unusual. The delivery service assured the buyer that “the box has been properly sealed and therefore has never been opened or tampered with“, placing the responsibility beyond their reach. We will keep you posted on further developments in the story, so stay tuned for updates!
