Rugged Galaxy Xcover 7 renders show device with replaceable battery, military build quality،

Renders of the rugged Galaxy Xcover 7 have surfaced Android titles and the device is the sequel to the Galaxy Xcover 6 Pro released in June 2022. Interestingly, the model number of the new device is SM-G556B, while the model number of the predecessor is SM-G736B. You’re not the only one who thinks this only makes sense if the new model is a sequel to the Galaxy Xcover 5 2021 model which also didn’t use the Pro moniker and had the model number SM-G525F.
So what makes the Galaxy Xcover 7 a “rugged” phone? Well, it should support military standards (MIL-STD-810H), which means the handset can survive a sudden temperature change of 18 degrees Fahrenheit, either up or down. The phone may also work after experiencing vibration and shock from gunshots, ballistic shock, etc. It is also IP68 rated, making it impervious to dust and the phone can be submerged in clear water up to a depth of almost 5 feet for up to 30 minutes without suffering damage.
Although no specific screen size is mentioned, the render shows that the phone will sport the Infinity-V display which you may know as the “waterdrop notch” display. Considering the Galaxy Xcover 6 Pro cost $600 at launch and that model should be a tier below that phone, we’re looking at a fairly affordable rugged handset. There is only one camera on the back of the Galaxy Xcover 7 (with dual LED flash) compared to the two cameras that were on the back of the Xcover 6 Pro.

The camera ring is red, like on older Galaxy Xcover models. The ring around the Push-to-Talk side button is also red. Yes, that means the phone supports push-to-talk and the button can also be assigned to a particular app or command. The back panel features a pattern consisting of diagonal lines cut into the panel.

A nice feature found on Galaxy Xcover phones is a replaceable battery like smartphones used to have, when it was unusual for the iPhone to have a battery inaccessible to users. Back then, users bought extra cells, charged them, and carried them in their pockets, ready for a quick change when their phone’s battery ran out.

If you’re looking for a rugged and affordable Android phone, the Galaxy Xcover 7 might be for you. While we have these renders to look at, we’re still waiting for the first batch of rumored specs to surface. As soon as they arrive, we will be happy to pass them on to you.
