Ex-U.S. Open champ Emma Raducanu pulls out of Macau Masters

Former US Open champion Emma Raducanu withdrew from a December exhibition match at the Macau Tennis Masters as she continues to recover from wrist and ankle surgery, a announced Monday its management company IMG.

Raducanu was set to return to action following her surgeries in May but, on her 21st birthday, she decided to extend her time away.

The British player, who won her first Grand Slam title in New York as an 18-year-old qualifier in 2021, has not played since April, missing the French Open, Wimbledon and the US Open while falling to 289th world rank.

Raducanu began light training in August and said she was targeting a return for next season.

The first Grand Slam of the year will begin in Australia on January 15.
