Samsung’s next big rugged phone shows its familiar but outdated design for the first time،

What happens after a non-Pro Galaxy Xcover 5 handset released in 2021 and a significantly premium Galaxy Xcover 6 Pro model last year? Why, a “regular” Samsung Galaxy Xcover 7 smartphone with a predictably rugged and somewhat outdated design in 2023, of course.

This design is depicted for the very first time in a number of undoubtedly reliable and accurate renderings by the folks at Android titlessuggesting that the Xcover 6 Pro’s small V-shaped screen cutout is here to stay while the rear-facing camera system will move from dual sensors to a single shooter like on the Xcover 5.
Samsung is therefore extremely likely to price the presumably fast-approaching Galaxy Xcover 7 at least a little lower than the rugged phone’s Pro-branded predecessor, which still costs a somewhat excessive $600 in the US in one variant unlocked without any conditions.

With no details on this camera’s capabilities or other specifications, it’s of course difficult to predict exactly how affordable the Xcover 7 might be. After all, the images leaked today clearly show that the device will be built like an absolute tank, most likely withstanding everything from long immersion in water to dust, dirt, extreme temperatures, vibrations and even occasional drops on hard surfaces.

It can’t be as cheap as, say, a “conventional” mid-range Galaxy A23 or A34 5G, and it doesn’t matter whether the Galaxy Xcover 7 will follow the Xcover 6 Pro’s lead in supporting 5G speeds or not . .
The red accent around the rear-facing camera ring, the programmable side Xcover button, and the user-replaceable battery are three other key visual/functional elements essentially confirmed to be borrowed by this upcoming Samsung Galaxy Xcover 7 to its ultra-robust and work-friendly precursors. All we have to do now is wait for an official announcement, which may or may not come by the end of the year.
