Google Drive on Android and iOS will now benefit from a new home page with a more compact user interface, reports 9to5Google. The update allows you to find the right file more quickly.

Google Drive for Android and iOS gets a redesigned homepage

Currently, Workspace users have a tab on the home page called “Priority”, which Google is replacing with this new update. It will be called “Home”, just like personal accounts. Google would also replace “Workspaces” with “Favorites” for all users.

The top “Suggested” tab will no longer use a card with a file preview, because the thumbnail was too small to matter. Now Google will replace this view with a list view that can show more recently opened, shared, or edited files. Activities such as comments and recent replies will also be visible under the file name.

But that’s not all! The Notifications tab will now be an Activity feed, a change recently introduced for web users. The cards will display items that need your attention, such as pending access requests for example.

The update also includes a new FAB (floating action button) camera. This button will be above the existing one for “New”, which is no longer a square.

This update has started rolling out to Android and iOS users, and everyone should receive it in the coming weeks. All Google Workspace users and people with personal Google accounts will receive this update.
