That’s because Apple plans to bring new AI capabilities to the iPhone in iOS 18 as he tries to hold Google back. Additionally, Gurman says there won’t be any major changes to the iPhone next year, even though previous rumors called for screens on the iPhone. iPhone16 Pro and iPhone16 Pro Max will increase by approximately 0.2 inches to 6.3 inches and 6.9 inches, respectively. Bloomberg scribe says iOS 18 must be more impressive than usual to help consumers purchase one of the 2024 iPhone models.

Gurman’s report states that the decision to stop development and squash bugs on future versions of the operating system belonged to Apple’s software engineering chief, Craig Federighi. He made these calls after determining that the quality of the software at that point was not where it should be. Apple had just completed the first internal versions of iOS 18 and macOS 15 and has already finished adding the most important new features for the software known at Apple as M1 for the first stage.
Instead of launching on M2, which normally would have happened right away, Apple took a week off to squash the bugs. There are four stages for each operating system and each lasts approximately six weeks. Four weeks are devoted to adding features, while exterminating bugs takes up the remaining two weeks of each stage. Apple spent an additional week debugging the software. All four steps are completed before Apple demonstrates the new software at WWDC in June each year.
The one-week delay in development should not force Apple to change the release date of iOS 18 and other operating systems. What’s more exciting for iPhone and iPad users is the possibility that the 2024 versions will feature design changes, new features, and security and performance improvements. Gurman says Cupertino’s senior management calls upcoming releases “ambitious and compelling.”
