Steam Deck OLED Announced by Valve،

Despite Valve’s checkered history with hardware projects, the Steam bridge enjoys immense success. Now get ready for a new OLED version of the portable gaming PC, arriving on November 16.

It’s not Steam Deck 2, though.

A recent video on Valve’s YouTube channel (along with an announcement on Twitter/X) teases the latest upcoming edition of the Steam Deck.

Apart from the aforementioned OLED display, the new variant will also offer longer battery life and faster downloads. It will be available in two versions: a 512 GB model and a 1 TB model.

The Twitter post provides some clarity for those who have noticed some issues on the Steam Store. The OLED Steam Deck is sold “in the United States, Canada, European Union, and United Kingdom, as well as Japan, South Korea, Hong Kong, and Taiwan (via Komodo).

A quick glance at Steam also shows that current Deck models are being sold at discounted prices. It can’t be said at this point whether this is just an offer or indicates a more permanent price drop, but it does mean those who haven’t gotten one yet may consider a non-OLED variant now that they are currently cheaper.

It must be said that the OLED model is not a Steam Deck 2, but simply an improvement over the currently available device. According to Valve, a follow-up is this is unlikely to happen for a few years.

With the mobile gaming market heating up – with fierce competition from Lenovo and ASUS – a better Steam bridge should provide a good interim until the next generation arrives.
