U.S. GP results stand after F1 stewards reject Haas appeal،

The results of the United States Grand Prix were confirmed after Formula One stewards on Thursday rejected an attempt by the Haas team to have them revised weeks after the event.

The stewards ruled, in a lengthy statement, that Haas did not present any significant and relevant new material that was not available to them at the time of the Oct. 22 race in Austin, Texas.

However, they also said that their failure to properly enforce track limit violations for all competitors at turn six of the Circuit of the Americas was “totally unsatisfactory” and that a solution must be found before the start of next season .

“Whether the problem is properly addressed by better technological solutions, track modifications, a combination thereof, or a different regulation and enforcement standard, officials leave to those who are better positioned to make such assessments” , they added.

The decision was made after a virtual hearing that began Wednesday and was rescheduled until Thursday.

Haas, bottom of the championship, requested the review during last weekend’s Sao Paulo Grand Prix because it believed some rivals had exceeded track limits without sanction.

Representatives from the ruling FIA, Aston Martin, Williams and reigning champions Red Bull were summoned to the virtual hearing while McLaren and Ferrari were also present as affected parties.

Haas submitted on-board video footage of four cars leaving the track multiple times at turn six: Williams drivers Alex Albon and Logan Sargeant, Red Bull’s Sergio Perez and Aston Martin’s Lance Stroll.

The American team argued that track limit violations were “neither noted, nor investigated, nor penalized by the stewards, as evidenced by the final classification.”

Representatives from Aston Martin, Red Bull and Williams all claimed there was nothing new since all cars’ on-board cameras were available to the teams during the race and no secondary evidence, such as video surveillance, had not been presented.

The commissioners found the onboard camera footage from Albon’s Williams and subsequent cars to be significant but not new, unavailable or relevant.

The images of the other three cars did not meet any of the requirements.

Albon finished ninth in Austin and Sargeant 10th. Haas had Nico Hulkenberg finish 11th.
