The Xiaomi 14 series sold more than a million units in a week،
The people at Xiaomi pop champagne bottles – well, maybe not all of them, maybe just the top executives – to celebrate an occasion.
Xiaomi’s new flagship is selling like hotcakes. The Xiaomi 14 series is performing so well, according to CEO Lei Jun, that the million mark was reached in just one week (via Reuters).
Presented in China at the end of October and put on sale the day before Halloween, the variants of the Xiaomi 14 have not yet reached the global scale. Judging from Xiaomi’s previous releases, users around the world can expect that Xiaomi 14 the series will arrive in the coming weeks (since we are already well into November, that could mean expecting them in early 2024).
“Sales of the Mi 14 series have exceeded 1 million units and the phones are still suffering from a serious shortage,” Lei Jun, general manager of Xiaomi, said on Weibo. If true, it could mean that the crisis in the Chinese phone market is coming to an end.
And the crisis is very real: ten consecutive quarters of decline in phone sales in China. Industry research firm IDC predicts that the Chinese market is on track to achieve year-over-year sales growth in the fourth quarter (forecast growth was not expressed in numbers or percentages for the ‘moment).
The overseas market may very well be hitting rock bottom — Huawei stirred up the market with its Mate 60 Pro, prompting U.S. officials to ask, “How could heavily sanctioned China achieve this?” According to a report, Huawei has recently managed to generate respectable numbers in terms of sales.
