‘Thank you for what you’ve done for women’s cricket’ – The cricketing world reacts to Meg Lanning’s retirement،
Meg Lanning announced her retirement from international cricket at the age of 31 on Thursday. Having led Australia to four T20 World Cup titles, one ODI World Cup title and a Commonwealth Games gold medal, she is one of the most successful captains in cricket history. Here’s how the world reacted to his unexpected retirement.
There are a handful of hitters in the game that made me stop what I was doing, just to watch them play. Meg Lanning was one of them. My attachment, appreciation and love for women’s football has grown exponentially because of her batting skills and leadership.

The greatest, a huge competitor, motivated and extremely efficient. I had the best seat in the house for so many innings as a cricket fan, not so much as an opposition. Thanks Meg! https://t.co/GjcwRDuAmG

What an incredible track record, with so many personal and team milestones. But as an outside observer, his contribution off the field, to the growth of this great game, has also been phenomenal. #wellplayedMeg https://t.co/iIr4JR4tMA

#MegLanning did a lot of things well when she was playing. As captain, his decision-making was almost flawless. On her way out, she leaves behind another reference that is difficult to imitate; and everyone is wondering why so early? Congratulations captain. Well done and happy retirement.

Meg Lanning holds the unique distinction of being the only female cricketer to have hit me on the roof of a pavilion (during a match, let alone the nets). For that alone, I call GOAT. Well done Meg, doing well. https://t.co/9JuSIuabrX
