Gmail accounts inactive for two years are about to be deleted by Google،

You may remember that last May, Google said that Gmail accounts inactive for two years would be deleted and wiped from the face of this earth. Before making this announcement, Google was deleting content stored in these seemingly forgotten accounts but still allowing the Gmail account to remain active. Now, Google might be concerned about the added security risk that comes with abandoned Gmail accounts.
Using an abandoned Gmail account to send and receive Gmail messages containing personal data is not a good idea. This is why Google prefers to completely delete these accounts instead of erasing the content and allowing users to continue using the accounts. By Android AuthorityGoogle will start removing these accounts starting next month.

As the time approaches, it’s not too late to backup an inactive Gmail account you have. Otherwise, it will be thrown in the trash as if you never created it. To save your Gmail account inactive, all you have to do is log in and use it. Here are some suggested steps you can take to keep your Gmail account alive if you’re closing in on two years of inactivity:

  • Watch YouTube.
  • Read an email.
  • Use Google Drive.
  • Use Google search.
  • Use your Google login to sign in to a third-party app.

Speaking of YouTube, Google has a process that it will use to delete abandoned Gmail accounts and one thing it won’t do at this time is delete an unused Gmail account that currently has a YouTube video active on it. What it will do is start with Gmail accounts that have been created and will never be used again.

Google only deletes inactive personal Gmail accounts. Abandoned accounts belonging to businesses or schools will not be deleted. Remember, Gmail accounts that have been missing for two years are the ones that Google deletes.
