Hit that pause button and get access to Spotify’s audiobook catalog!

If you are a Premium user (or the plan manager of a Family/Duo account), you won’t even have to pay. Spotify is offering 15 hours of free audiobooks to its Premium users in the United States.

Just over a month ago, paying subscribers in two countries received the same bonus from Spotify – the UK and Australia (via 9to5Mac). The streaming giant announced that it would later roll out free access to audiobooks for 15 hours per month to US users – and the date has come.

A official press release from Spotify indicates that American readers can now access 200,000 titles in their catalog and, in fact, Premium accounts are not the only ones who can benefit from the 15 free hours per month:

15 hours may be enough to hold two audiobooks in some cases, but it’s clearly not enough for Dostoyevsky’s Crime and Punishment, whose audio recordings can be over 20 hours long.

According to Spotify, their audiobook catalog has “something for everyone, including over 70% hit titles: from current sensations like Britney Spears’ The Woman in Me and Jesmyn Ward’s Let Us Descend, to classics beloved like The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho. and Wuthering Heights by Emily Brontë.

Genres range from “cozy mystery” to “historical romance,” as they put it.

Spotify provides interesting information and statistics. According to a survey they conducted, younger generations in the United States prefer listening to their books rather than reading them: Generation Z and millennials lead when it comes to listening to audiobooks, with 72% of 18- 34 year old stating that they listen to audiobooks.
