Galaxy S24 is anticipated to debut with on-device generative AI called Samsung Gauss،

In recent days, speculation has been rife regarding the upcoming Galaxy S24 series and its alleged incorporation of AI features. Some whispers even suggest that AI features on the Galaxy S24, the Galaxy S24 Plus and Galaxy S24 Ultra could come with subscription fees, which are still pending. However, one thing is certain: during the second day of the Samsung AI Forum 2023, the tech giant unveiled its own generative AI model, Samsung Gauss. As reported Korean era (via The edge), Samsung Gauss should be integrated into Galaxy S24 series in the first half of 2024. The move marks Samsung’s bold entry into the highly competitive generative AI arena.

Samsung unveiled Gauss at its AI forum, demonstrating its abilities to generate and edit images, draft emails, summarize documents, and serve as a coding assistant.

A notable aspect of Samsung’s Gauss model is its ability to perform certain functions locally on the device. Samsung executives hinted last month that generative AI would be added to the “core functions” of mobile devices starting in 2024.

Named after Carl Friedrich Gauss, the legendary mathematician who laid the foundation for the theory of normal distribution, an integral part of machine learning and AI, Gauss includes three submodels. These include a language model (Samsung Gauss Language), a coding assistant model (Samsung Gauss Code), and an image generation model (Samsung Gauss Image).

According to Samsung Press release By introducing Gauss, the generative language model improves work efficiency by facilitating tasks such as email writing, document summarization, and content translation. It also offers the potential to improve the consumer experience by enabling smarter control of devices when integrated into products.

The integration of Gauss into products, notably the Galaxy S24could be a compelling selling point, especially if the model can perform limited generative image and language functions directly on the handset.

Internally, Samsung already uses Gauss for “employee productivity,” with the intention of expanding its use to various Samsung product applications, promising a new user experience in the near future.
