Casemiro ruled out until at least Christmas – Ten Hag،

Casemiro has worsened Manchester United’s injury crisis after manager Erik ten Hag said the Brazilian midfielder would be out until Christmas at the earliest with a hamstring injury.

United were waiting to assess the full extent of the injury the 31-year-old suffered during last Wednesday’s Carabao Cup defeat to Newcastle at Old Trafford.

Speaking in Denmark ahead of United’s Champions League Group A clash with FC Copenhagen, Ten Hag said Casemiro would now join long-term absentee compatriot Lisandro Martínez (broken metatarsal) in the treatment room.

“I’m waiting for a few [injured players] but Casemiro and Martinez are very seriously injured and I don’t expect them to return before Christmas,” Ten Hag said. “It’s been several weeks [for Casemiro]”.

Left-backs Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia have both been out since the opening weeks of the season and remain unavailable, while teenage midfielder Kobbie Mainoo will miss the trip to Copenhagen due to injury.

However, Ten Hag said Harry Maguire and Marcus Rashford were fit to face the Danish champions.

Maguire played the full 90 minutes of Saturday’s win at Fulham despite falling twice for treatment due to dizziness, while Rashford missed the match after failing a pre-match fitness test.

“We did everything [concussion] protocols during and after the match, so it [Maguire] is ready to play,” said the Dutch coach. “There is no indication [of concussion].

“He [Maguire] It was fine in the game, so no issues. He played a very good match. Rashford missed a game, a little knock but he’s back 100%.”
