Luton threaten stadium bans after Liverpool tragedy chanting،

Luton Town have threatened “stadium bans and possible criminal prosecution” against fans found guilty of the tragic chants which took place at Kenilworth Road during Sunday’s Premier League match against Liverpool, the club announced in a press release Monday.

A section of Luton supporters have been accused of singing chants directed at Liverpool supporters referring to the Hillsborough disaster during their team’s 1-1 draw against the Merseyside club.

“The Club condemns any type of chanting that knowingly seeks to be divisive, and our safety and security team has launched an internal investigation as soon as possible,” Luton said in its statement.

“Based on this, we are reviewing CCTV footage and media footage of the match, and will speak to witnesses to identify people who may have taken part. Any perpetrators could face stadium bans and possible prosecution criminal.

“On behalf of everyone at Luton Town, we would like to wholeheartedly apologize to anyone offended by the chants heard during yesterday’s match, and we will continue to work with supporters groups to inform supporters about the chants which are considered tragic abuses by football authorities, the Ministry of Football said. The English Football Association also said it “strongly condemns” the behavior of fans accused of singing the chants, in a statement released on Monday, and said it would seek further details on the matter from police.
