MediaTek’s latest flagship chipset is officially here and will power a slew of flagship devices in 2024 alongside its rival the all-powerful Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3. It will power many smartphones, starting with the upcoming Vivo X100. It is built on TSMC’s 4nm+ process and has a maximum frequency of 3.25 GHz capable of delivering 40% higher peak performance and 33% lower power consumption compared to last year’s flagship Dimensity 9200 SoC. .
MediaTek Dimensity 9300 5G SoC launched
MediaTek’s Dimensity 9300 5G is built on TSMC’s 4nm+ process and compared head-on to Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC. It uses a 1+3+4 core architecture for its processor which includes four Cortex-X4 cores and four Cortex-A720 cores offering a maximum frequency of 3.25 GHz. Compare it with the SD 8 Gen 3 which has a 1+3+2+2 core architecture associated with a maximum frequency of 3.3 GHz.
MediaTek claimed that the Dimensity 9300 beat scores by 2,130,000 points on the AnTuTu benchmark, which roughly matches the numbers Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 would have achieved on the OnePlus 12 (at 2,110,808 points) in a benchmark. disclosed.
A 12-core Immortalis-G720 MC13 GPU joins the CPU with hardware-based ray tracing. Compare it with the Dimensity 9200’s Immortalis G715 and you get 40% lower power consumption and 46% improved performance, which is a lot to take in when it comes to a flagship chipset. Given that artificial intelligence (AI) is a big thing in 2023 and will be big again next year, MediaTek can’t afford to lose an edge. Thus, its APU 790 will take care of all AI-related tasks. It supports LLM with up to 33 billion parameters and Generative AI support is capable of performing stable streaming in less than a second. All this with energy consumption reduced by an incredible 45%. Next, we support WQHD resolution and a maximum refresh rate of 180Hz for displays, including regular and dual active displays integrated on foldable devices.
Next, the built-in ISP is Imagip 990 ISP which supports standalone OIS, always-on HDR, and up to 8K video resolution at 30fps. It can reach 60fps in 4K resolution with support for bokeh and real-time cinematic shots.
