Facebook is rolling out an A/B testing tool for Reels along with other enhancements for creators،

You’ve probably heard of Reels, right? Short, creative videos that can last up to 90 seconds? Meta launched Reels in 2020 in response to the growing popularity of TikTok. Now, statistics show that Reels are more popular than ever, with over 2.3 billion people interacting with Reels every month.

Meta now offers creators more tools to refine their content and strengthen their presence on Facebook. The focus is on the new Reels A/B testing tool, allowing creators to experiment with different captions and thumbnails directly on their mobile devices to assess performance.

Wondering how it works? When you create a Reel on your mobile, you can experiment with up to four different captions or thumbnails. The results appear on your professional dashboard and the winning variation speaks on your profile or page, unless you decide otherwise.

Meta is also exploring the potential of generative AI, with the aim of helping create diverse caption and thumbnail options in the future.

Additionally, Meta offers a convenient method to turn your existing video posts and live streams into Reels. Simply select your content in the Reels composer on mobile, add your finishing touches and publish directly to Facebook.

Meta’s recent updates focus on empowering creators. The Professional Dashboard Achievements hub now consolidates your achievements across Education, Stars, Reels, and Progress. Of note is the newfound success of the Reels series, achieved through consistent weekly posts on Reels.

The company is also introducing a content management tool into the pro dashboard, providing a centralized view of all your posts, Reels, and videos. From there, you can manage each post by taking actions, like hiding it from your profile, moving it to the trash, or reviewing content performance insights, streamlining the process compared to the previous method of individual review of each publication.

But wait, there’s more. Meta enhances the Insights experience, providing a weekly account highlights section in Insights. This information sheds light on your posting habits, audience engagement, and content performance.

Meta raises the bar with additional Reels metrics on the Professional Dashboard, including Reels-specific reach categorized by subscribers and non-subscribers, a distribution score comparing your Reels’ performance to that of others, and a graph of audience retention revealing viewer engagement over time.

Although Meta strives to please content creators, she is not as enthusiastic about pleasing the authorities. Just recently, Europe expanded a ban on targeted ads on Facebook and Instagram following concerns about how the company uses its users’ personal data. This is also part of the reason why Meta’s latest app, Threads, is still not available in the EU: it does not comply with European privacy regulations.
