Samsung Confirms Working On Generative AI For Its 2024 Smartphones،

During its third-quarter earnings conference call on October 31, 2023, the South Korean tech giant revealed that it is working to introduce AI technology as a new experience in its smartphones. The company also added that it plans to offer generative AI capabilities in its smartphones starting in 2024. According to multiple reports, Samsung is opting for on-device generative AI technology without connecting to a cloud server external.

On-device AI processing would not require an active internet connection

So instead of sending information to a server and waiting for a response, Samsung’s upcoming smartphones should be able to handle all requests on the device itself. For example, users might be able to use a service like ChatGPT on their device without needing to be connected to an active internet connection. To do this, instead of relying on other language models, Samsung is developing its own generative AI technology.

Rumors suggest that Samsung will launch its generative AI technology on the upcoming Galaxy S24 series, which is expected to arrive early next year. In one of our previous reports, we mentioned that the Galaxy S24 series in the US will run on the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC. The chipset offers 98% improved AI performance and can support up to to 10 B of parameters for generative AI models.

Apple is also working to add AI capabilities to its apps

However, in 2024, Samsung is not expected to be the only company offering AI features built into its smartphones, as Apple and Google are already working on similar capabilities. Apple’s iPhone 16 series is said to offer several AI-based features. The iPhone maker is working to integrate AI into its apps and services, such as Apple Music, Siri, etc.
