The smartwatch game has intensified over the past decade, with smartphone giants throwing their hat into the wearable ring. Statistics as of 2022, reveal 216.43 million smartwatch users, and Apple owns 54% of that pie. But there’s still room for more, and OnePlus seems ready to join the party. About two years after the debut of the OnePlus Watch, rumors say there could be a sequel. As MySmartPrice spotted it, the OnePlus Watch 2 has just received the green light from the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS). The OnePlus Watch 2 is rumored to have been certified with model number OPWWE231.

The BIS approval suggests that the OnePlus Watch 2 is gearing up for production and could hit the market soon. Previous leaks suggest an early 2024 launch, possibly alongside the OnePlus 12.

The Chinese manufacturer, part of BBK Electronics, which not only owns OnePlus but also Oppo, Vivo and Realme, has still not shared official confirmation on the upcoming launch of the Watch 2, but the rumor is swirling.

And what does it say? Well, firstly, rumors suggest that OnePlus will replace the custom operating system with Wear OS, bringing features like Google Play and Google Assistant. The OnePlus Watch 2 is rumored to be powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon W5 Gen 1 chipset, tailor-made for wearable devices.

What more could be in the package? A circular AMOLED display with a few side buttons, new health and fitness features, and a promise of fast charging. Of course, we’ll have to wait and see if all of this is really what OnePlus really has in mind for its next-gen smartwatch.

If, indeed, these rumors come true, the Watch 2 steps up its game compared to the OnePlus Watch launched in 2021, which was more of a fitness tracker masquerading as a smart watch.
