It’s a bad look for AT&T as it shuts the ‘AT&T Thanks’ rewards program،

Since John Legere took over as CEO T Mobile in 2012, the carrier was consistently considered the most innovative and pro-consumer among the major carriers. Legere left in 2020 after the Sprint acquisition was finalized and was replaced by his right-hand man Mike Sievert who kept the tradition going except for a few hiccups here and there. Although T-Mobile customers can no longer pay their bill at their local store unless they want to be charged $5 more, the carrier still offers the best customer rewards program in the country. T Mobile Tuesdays.
Verizon has its Verizon Up Rewards Program (available on My Verizon app), which is limited compared to T Mobile Tuesday, but at least there’s a rewards program. AT&T subscribers lost the AT&TThanks rewards program according to a AT&T Community Forum Page (via ReadingLight). AT&T Thanks started in 2016 just after T Mobile Tuesdays was born and went through several iterations. But according to a message from the ATTHelp account on the community forum site, the program is over.

The ATTHelp post says: “Hello, thank you for reaching out to the AT&T Community Forums. To answer your question about AT&T Thank you, this was a limited time offer and is no longer offered. We We appreciate you being part of AT&T, and we’re always evaluating new offerings for our customers. AT&T customers weren’t happy. “We really need to bring back AT&T’s loyalty. It was a great incentive to try and win something every Friday. I mean, T Mobile gives you something every Tuesday and you don’t even have to win, you get it. At least we could win something every once in a while,” one follower wrote.

LightReading asked the carrier and AT&T responded by saying, “We are constantly looking for new ways to thank our customers in more unique and meaningful ways. In doing so, the AT&TThanks program has evolved. For example, earlier this year we surprised our customers in Los Angeles and Miami with the AT&T GameBall Experience offering thousands of prizes, including the latest Google Pixel phone, NBA merchandise and even $5,000 to reward their loyalty.

AT&T continued: “Plus, new and existing customers benefit from our best deals on devices. We plan to continue investing in these initiatives and providing access to sweepstakes and rewards such as our Sponsored Events and Partner Moments.

The optics here are not in AT&T’s favor, although the wireless provider has been on a roll lately, having added more than 1 million net new postpaid phone subscribers over the past two quarters . But eliminating the AT&TThanks rewards program could send the kind of message that could stop that momentum in its tracks.
