Google fingerprints are everywhere in our daily technological routine: phones, tablets, wearables, smart TVs and even cars. Billions of people around the world ride the Google wave every day. And guess what? More and more companies are jumping on the bandwagon and integrating the Google ecosystem into their products.

Porsche and Google recently signed a deal, giving the German automaker the green light to spice up its vehicles with Google services, like Android titles reports. Integration, planned in the company plan official announcementincludes Google Maps, Google Assistant and other apps available through the Google Play Store.

The next generations of Porsche vehicles will seamlessly integrate Google services, covering navigation, voice capabilities and the vast ecosystem of applications. Production is expected to begin in the middle of the decade. Existing Porsche customers need not worry: the familiar user interface of the Porsche Communication Management (PCM) system will persist and receive regular online updates to ensure continued functionality. Oliver Blume, Chairman of the Board of Management of Porsche AG, emphasizes the importance of a digital experience for their customers. He declares, “Our customers make a dream come true with our vehicles. In addition to timeless design and exceptional performance, they also want a seamless digital experience. This mixed ecosystem results from the integration of platforms and applications that customers experience from their end devices..”

Looking ahead, Porsche aims to integrate ecosystems from different suppliers into its vehicles via standardized interfaces and platforms. PCM is poised to become an integral part of the digital ecosystem for Porsche customers around the world, marking Google’s integration as the next step in Porsche’s digital journey. The collaboration between Porsche and Google is positioned as a long-term venture.

We are excited to partner with Porsche in their goal to deliver innovative and meaningful in-car experiences to their customers.“, notes Hiroshi Lockheimer, senior vice president of platforms and ecosystems at Google.

The trend of automakers aligning with technology companies is gaining momentum globally, with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay becoming commonplace in almost all new vehicles. Deepening collaboration between technology companies and automakers promises various benefits for customers, such as running mobile applications on your car’s information system.

The healthy competition between tech giants in the automotive sector is evident. Android Auto received a major overhaul earlier this year, now allowing tasks like opening your garage door. Meanwhile, Apple is preparing to unveil next-generation CarPlay in 2023, offering control over everything from the car stereo to climate control and seat position.
