WhatsApp lets you edit text-only messages in Channels،

Launching to the public in September 2023, WhatsApp’s latest Channels feature heralds something that will spark joy.

Users can now edit the content of a post (since we’re talking about channels here, they’re called “updates”, but let’s stick with the term “posts”), but there are limitations (via Android Font).

Those who wish to modify the messages on their channels have 30 days to do so. In addition to the 30-day rule, users can only edit text messages: no photos, videos, or any other type of media or file.

Another thing: When an account edits a channel post, users of that channel will not receive a notification that it has been edited. Edited channel updates will have the word “edited” next to the timestamp and will be displayed to everyone watching a channel.

Here’s how to edit in WhatsApp channels:

  • Long-press the channel update you want to edit, then tap the three-dot menu icon.
  • Select Edit and make your update.
  • When you’re done, tap the check mark.

Want a Channels experience?

If you’re new to the concept of channels and only use WhatsApp for casual chat, here are some key points you need to know: Channels are different from the regular chats you’re used to on WhatsApp, because they are. separated and the one you choose to follow is not visible to others, hence the emphasis on privacy. WhatsApp users have the option to browse different channels and decide to follow the ones that interest them.

Think of it as a one-way broadcast tool, allowing admins to send different types of content such as text messages, photos, videos, stickers, and surveys. You know, back then, they were called “newspapers”, then “television shows”…
