OnePlus 12R Leaked Key Specs Hints at Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC

OnePlus is gearing up for its next big launch, the OnePlus 12, later this year. It will be powered by the flagship Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC which recently dropped 2 million points on AnTuTu 10. But that’s not the only phone the Chinese manufacturer is working on. There is speculation that a sub-flagship phone, aptly dubbed OnePlus 12R, will also launch next year. It will be powered by last year’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC and we just got our hands on some of the key specs.

According to tipster @ShishirShelke1, the OnePlus 12R, successor to the OnePlus 11R, will launch next year. It will be powered by a Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC which also powers OnePlus 11 and so we already know its performance. The phone will benefit from substantial gains in CPU performance and gaming performance over the 11R, as well as increased battery life, to name a few. We’re talking about a 5,500mAh battery that should power the OnePlus 12R.

The next piece of information concerns its optics. The OnePlus 12R is expected to include a 32 MP telephoto lens with 2x optical zoom capabilities. For the uninitiated, this is a significant upgrade over the OnePlus 11R’s 2MP macro snapper. If that’s not all, the OnePlus 12R will also bring a much brighter screen. We’re talking about a maximum brightness of 3,000 nits instead of 1,400 nits on the OnePlus 11R which should definitely turn heads.

Moving on, there are speculations that we could expect a metal frame on board the OnePlus 12R instead of plastic on the OnePlus 11R. If true, there’s no doubt that the OnePlus 12R will be a massive upgrade over its predecessor. The phone could arrive shortly after the flagship OnePlus 12, which will debut in the first quarter of 2024. Of course, no date is available at the moment.
