BMW tells iPhone 15 users not to charge in new vehicles; Apple preps iOS update،

By Gizmodo, the iPhone 15 series had a problem when placed on the wireless charger found on some automobiles. And some iPhone15 models have been bricked when plugged into car chargers. BMW drivers are specifically complaining about these issues on social media sites like Reddit.
A BMW driver bought a iPhone15 and plans to trade it in for an iPhone 14. His Reddit post explains it all. “I just bought a iPhone15 and I also have a BMW. I haven’t activated it yet and I’m thinking of returning it and getting the 14 instead, since the 15 has issues and the specs aren’t that different it doesn’t seem worth it. Upgraded from 12, works great on BMW charger.”
Okay, here’s where this argument goes wrong, assuming he’s talking about the base iPhone15 model. If returned for iPhone14 it loses the Dynamic Island, improved 48MP main camera on the back, USB-C charging port, and slightly improved battery life. Some BMW owners have complained about their iPhone15 The series‘ handset became too hot while charging and at least one user complained about camera shock preventing the wireless charger from reaching the phone.
MacRumors reports that in an internal Apple memo sent to Apple Authorized Service Providers, the company admitted that charging a iPhone15, iPhone 15 Plus, iPhone 15 Pro, or iPhone 15 Pro Max using one of the many in-car wireless chargers could temporarily disable the handsets’ NFC capabilities. Chargers are integrated into some recent BMW and Toyota Supra models. Apple certified technicians must use Apple Service Toolkit 2 software to get the NFC chip working again. If this doesn’t work, the phone will need to be opened so the hardware can be repaired or replaced.
Since NFC connectivity is used to activate Apple Pay, iPhone15 Series users affected by the issue may receive a message in the Wallet app stating “Unable to set up Apple Pay” even if Apple Pay has already been set up. Apple says it will fix this issue in a software update coming later this year. Since iOS 17.1 has already been released, we have been able to see this bug exterminated in iOS 17.1.1 or iOS 17.2. Hopefully this will also resolve the overheating issue and other issues that iPhone15 users of the series have dealt with.

Meanwhile, German newspaper Heise claims that BMW is asking drivers of its vehicles not to recharge their batteries. iPhone15 standard handset in a new vehicle.
