Google Wallet adds important new features for commuters،

Google Wallet already offers a set of interesting features that allow you to pay for transportation while commuting. Starting today, Google Wallet users in select cities will enjoy even more benefits that will help them track their spending every time they go.

According to Google, 9 in 10 transit riders say they expect transit agencies to offer contactless options as a method of payment. To meet this growing demand from commuters, transit agencies are adopting an “open-loop payment system,” which essentially means people can use any payment card in their physical or digital wallet to pay their public transport tickets.

This open-loop payment system is already available to commuters in cities including London, New York and Sydney. On top of that, Google is now adding a new feature that will show commuters their trip history and how much they’ve saved thanks to time-based fare caps.

With this new feature, commuters will be able to receive updates from their transit agency. Google will roll out the feature later this year, but it will initially only be available with buses in Brighton and Hove in the UK.

Another new feature announced by Google will allow users in certain cities to purchase and store their transport ticket directly on their phone via the Wallet application. This feature is now rolling out to commuters in Madrid, while transit riders in Seattle and the Puget Sound region will be able to add their ORCA transit card to Google Wallet. Since some transit agencies require riders to carry their ticket with them to present to the driver when boarding the bus, commuters can now save the following tickets to Google Wallet: SNCF in France, Hamburg HVV in Germany and Italo in Italy.

Finally, Google announced that it has expanded the ability to support multi-leg travel and increased the ticketing options available to users. For example, you will now be able to purchase all tickets through Maps whenever you move to another city and then use the local public transportation system like metro and buses.
