The Xiaomi 14 series breaks cover in China, boasting 3000-nit displays and variable-aperture cameras،
Xiaomi has been striving to deliver a premium, ultra-flagship experience for the past few years, and with the Xiaomi 14 series, the company is getting closer and closer to realizing that dream. Today, the Xiaomi 14 series was revealed in China, giving us a glimpse of what we can expect from the brand and its next-generation flagship phones. Both the Xiaomi 14 and Xiaomi 14 Pro are packed with hardware and software features and are surely pushing the flagship frontier. Both of these models look great on paper and have the potential to give Samsung and Apple a serious boost, but we need to test both phones when they launch globally to know for sure what they’re all about. In the meantime, let’s take a look at the main features of the Xiaomi 14 and Xiaomi 14 Pro, revealed at today’s event in Beijing.Overview of the main features of the Xiaomi 14 Pro:

- Variable aperture: camera ƒ/1.42-ƒ/4.0
- 4880mAh battery
- 120W Wired HyperCharge and 50W Wireless HyperCharge
Both the Xiaomi 14 Pro’s screen and camera system spark interest. Xiaomi has equipped the Pro version with a 6.7-inch AMOLED display capable of delivering up to 3000 nits of peak brightness. Additionally, this display uses LTPO technology and can go from 1Hz to 120Hz along with everything else. There is DC dimming and TUV certified 1920Hz PWM dimming to reduce eye strain.
The camera system has another surprise: a variable aperture allowing a range ƒ/1.42 – ƒ/4.0, something we’ve already seen on the Huawei Mate 50 Pro and P60 Pro. Official information regarding the full camera specifications is rather scarce at the moment, but various sources point to a 50 MP 1/1.31″ primary sensor with a pixel size of 2.4 microns.
The Xiaomi 14 Pro features 120W wired and 50W wireless fast charging (this might be limited in regions outside of China) and a 4,880mAh battery. The phone will launch with Xiaomi’s new HyperOS; stay tuned for a detailed article about this interesting software soon.
The vanilla Xiaomi 14, on the other hand, has a smaller 6.4-inch AMOLED display with 460 ppi and the same variable 1-120 Hz refresh rate, coupled with the aforementioned 3,000 nits peak brightness of its big brother.
The smaller model has a 50 MP main sensor with an f/1.6 aperture and 1/1.3 sensor size, coupled with Leica Summix optics. The ultra-wide-angle camera has been upgraded to 50 MP and now includes the popular Leica 75mm floating telephoto lens, which can focus from 10cm to infinity.
We don’t have any information on the potential global release of the Xiaomi 13 series, but judging by previous launches, we’re looking at a few weeks before we see these phones globally.
