Everyone wants LPDDR5X RAM in their phone, but now it’s possible to stop the obsession with LPDDR5X. There’s a new cat in town and it’s faster than the beloved LPDDR5X.
We are of course talking about the next generation of memory – it’s called LPDDR5T and it is said to offer 13% faster reading speed than the previous one (via Android titles).
LPDDR5T was announced almost a year ago (in January 2023), but until now no phone has integrated it. This will change, says popular tipster Weibo Digital Chat Station.
The rumored devices that will be the first to host the LPDDR5T will be the upcoming Vivo X100 series. They are awaiting an official presentation on November 17 in China.
“The pentakill is here, the vivo X100 series is the world’s first new LPDDR5T memory, and it is available in all series. Compared with mainstream LPDDR5X memory, the read speed is increased by 13%. Together with Dimensity 9300 and UFS 4.0, it forms a new performance triangle,” say the people behind the Weibo account.
13% may not seem like a lot to you, but running at a data rate of 9.6 GB/s (LPDDR5T) should be more fun than a data rate that peaks at 8.5 GB/s (LPDDR5X ).
In addition to being (obviously) compatible with the MediaTek Dimensity 9300 chip – after all, they should come together in the vivo manufactures LPDDR5T RAM.
Now, SK Hynix plans to offer a product with a capacity of 16 GB. It will achieve this by combining several individual LPDDR5T chips, resulting in a data processing speed of 77 GB per second. The company also claims that the LPDDR5T is energy efficient as it operates at the lowest voltage between 1.01 and 1.12 V.
Don’t forget the cameras either
If your reaction to a device with all three benefits (Dimensity 9300, UFS 4.0, LPDDR5T) is “meh”, don’t worry, the vivo X100 allegedly gets some of them. Really pretty cameras out of his magic hat.
The Vivo X100 Pro Plus could be equipped with an IMX 989 primary camera with variable aperture and a 200 MP telephoto lens.
