A wild Retro Edition of the Galaxy Z Flip 5 to emerge on November 1, report says

Recently, you may have come across rumors about a particular Samsung device – a retro edition of the Galaxy Z Flip 5 – and naturally dismissed them as shady. New reports are now coming from South Korea.

Quoted by SamMobilethe report of news1 actually gives a date for the alleged Galaxy Z Flip 5 Retro Edition – November 1.

Sources claim that this device will be launched in South Korea in limited quantities via Samsung Universe (pop-up store in Seoul), Samsung Online Store and Samsung Store in Gangnam.

A blast of Benzes from the past

The device, as shown in unofficial renders, will come in the same dark blue and silver color combination as the Samsung SGH-E700 phone launched 20 years ago. This is not at all a coincidence, because the Galaxy Z Flip 5 Retro Edition is said to pay homage to the SGH-E700. Launched in 2003, it was nicknamed Benz Phone by a Norwegian newspaper which called it the “Mercedes Benz of cell phones”. The SGH-E700 was Samsung’s first phone with an internal antenna and an external OLED color display, allowing users to capture selfies. It is also Samsung’s first mobile phone to reach a sales figure above 10 million. Pretty cool!

According to these, the phone will have a pastel blue color on the back and silver on the sides. The back has a matte finish, while its side rails are made of aluminum. The rest of the phone looks like the normal model Galaxy Z Flip 5: a large 3.4-inch OLED cover display, a side-mounted fingerprint reader and no changes to the dual-camera setup as well; The rest of the specs, including the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 For Galaxy processor, 8GB of RAM, 256GB of storage, and a 3,700mAh battery, are expected to remain similar to the Galaxy Z Flip 5.
