HTech Plans To Release Another Smartphone By This Year, Foldable In The Pipeline

After a significant hiatus, Honor returned to the Indian market in September 2023 with Honor 90 5G, with HTech in India, led by CEO Madhav Sheth. HTech is looking to expand the company’s product portfolio in India, launching a new smartphone and a foldable phone very soon. Here’s what Madhav Sheth said about the company’s plans in a recent interview.

HTech will launch a new phone by the end of 2023

HTech CEO Madhav Sheth said in an interview with Financial Express that Honor will launch its next smartphone in India by the end of this year. Additionally, Sheth confirmed that the company will launch at least one foldable in the market by the first half of next year. Honor is also looking forward to moving its manufacturing to the country, as it is already in conversations with three partners.

Regarding his move from Realme to HTech, Sheth says HTech expanded PSAV’s business to mobile phones, which took only two months. This accelerated Honor’s return to India at a pace it liked. Sheth says, “It saved me time and sped up my launch, that’s why you see, I’m leaving Realme,” and announces Honor’s return. Going forward, HTech will consider shorter, more compliant routes to streamline launches.

HTech to launch differentiated smartphones in India

Calling out other companies that have sub-brands and rebrand their products, Sheth asserts that “they are all substitute products.” He talks about how brands like Realme and Oppo often launch the same products in different markets under different names. He further adds that Honor will become a significant player in the Indian smartphone industry by next year. Finally, Sheth explains how he wants to position Honor as a value brand and not a value for money brand.
