The camera-centric Nubia Z50S Pro is now available in the US and Europe،

It’s been a full three months since the Nubia Z50S Pro was announced in China and it’s now available in the US and Europe.

What is it and why should I care?

This is a great question, given that Nubia, as a brand, is closer to being described as “obscure” than “famous”, although it is neither fully. As always, it depends on the context. Those who have only heard of Apple and Samsung will certainly assume that you are talking about the African region of Nubia. We discussed this particular device back in July, highlighting that this phone is camera-oriented and packs some serious hardware.

Global deals for the Nubia Z50S Pro were spotted by people from Android titles: The phone is available in 12/16 GB RAM variants (LPDDR5X RAM, UFS 4.0). The 12GB RA model is available with 256GB and 1TB storage options, while the 16GB RAM variant comes with 1TB of storage.

As for colors, you have the choice between black and khaki models. Pricing starts at $649/€649. The 12GB RAM model with 1TB of storage costs $729/€729, while the 16GB RAM model will set you back $799/€799.

Oh, that’s right, there’s more. Under the hood, there’s the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chip – the overclocked and more powerful iteration. The display is a 6.8-inch FullHD+ (2800 x 1260) AMOLED beauty with support for a 120Hz refresh rate. It also supports 2160Hz PWM dimming. The battery covers your daily use with a capacity of 5,100 mAh and supports 80W fast wired charging. A charger is included in the box. Android 13 comes preinstalled, with Nubia’s custom UI.

Don’t forget the cameras

But we got a little sidetracked – all these goodies distracted us from the main course of the Nubia Z50S Pro – the camera setup.

There is a 50-megapixel main camera (f/1.59 aperture, OIS, 35mm lens, PDAF, 1/1.49-inch sensor), a 50-megapixel ultra-wide camera (125-degree FoV, aperture f/2.0) and an 8-megapixel telephoto lens (f2/4 aperture, OIS, 6x optical zoom, 30x digital zoom, PDAF).

Remember the Z50 Ultra?

If you think it’s too good to be true for a starting price of $649, so do we – not too long ago another Chinese champ caught our eye, namely the Nubia Z50 Ultra: “ This $600 phone is everything the Galaxy S23 Ultra, iPhone 14 Pro will never be.”
