iOS 18 To Focus On AI-Related Features: Mark Gurman،

After successfully launching iOS 17 for compatible devices, Apple is working on the next iteration of its operating system for iPhone – iOS 18. The Cupertino-based giant is expected to announce the version next year, probably during WWDC 2024 , and release it as iOS 18. beta version for early adopters and testers. Although iOS 17 was a major upgrade, iOS 18 will focus more on integrating AI into the classic iOS experience.

iOS 18 will come with new machine learning features for Apple Messages and Music

According to the latest report from Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, Apple is working on integrating AI-related features into its apps and services, including but not limited to Apple Messages, Music, and the popular voice assistant Siri. For Messages, the company is working on better suggested replies that leverage machine learning. Additionally, Apple Music is also expected to benefit from advanced AI capabilities, in which the service should be able to generate entire playlists, Gurman notes in his Power On newsletter.

Siri will get its long-awaited upgrade

Apple’s voice assistant, Siri, is also expected to get AI-related features with iOS 18. Apple SVP John Giannandrea and the team are working to release a new version more intelligent Siri, based on the company’s large language model. However, it is not yet clear what these features might be and how they might improve user experience. Recently, Google integrated Bard into its voice assistant, enabling features like scanning into users’ Gmail and Drive for personalized results.

The company will also integrate AI and machine learning capabilities into other applications such as Keynote, Numbers and Pages, Gurman writes. On the surface, the company is trying to catch up with rivals like Google and Microsoft, which already have a head start in integrating AI-related features into devices and services that are easily accessible to most users, such as smartphones, web browsers, etc.
