Foldable smartphones are currently establishing themselves on the market. Companies like Google, Samsung, OnePlus, and Motorola are all in the game and competing with each other. Today, Motorola adds its twist with a new concept, seeking to stay ahead of the curve.

In a recent Press release, Motorola has unveiled a flexible phone concept incorporating an FHD+ pOLED screen. What makes this device different? Its adaptability allows users to bend and shape the screen into different shapes according to their needs.

The adaptive display concept can seamlessly transition from a standard Android phone experience when laid flat (a 6.9-inch screen running entirely on Android) to a unique portable experience. Alternatively, users can position it in different stand modes for different viewing angles.

When vertical, the device can be set to a standalone position, presenting a more compact form of full Android on a 4.6-inch screen. For those on the go, wrapping the device around the wrist provides a connectivity experience similar to the Motorola Razr Plus’ external display.

However, the display concept is not the only innovation that Motorola has in store. The company also revealed a set of new AI features built into the device. Among them is a generative AI model that works locally on the device, allowing users to extend their personal style to their phone. Users can upload or screenshot a photo of their outfit, generating multiple unique AI-created images that can be used as personalized wallpapers on their devices.

Motorola doesn’t stop at custom wallpapers; the company revealed three more AI concepts. These include features like blurring sensitive information, turning crumpled receipts into crisp documents, and summarizing notes, emails, and chats.

Whether or not this adaptive display concept will become a reality remains up in the air. But hey, it looks like Motorola is cooking up some exciting stuff in the foldable smartphone game. And oh, at Lenovo Tech World ’23, Lenovo revealed a new MotoAI personal assistant tailor-made for Motorola smartphones.
