Meta starts promoting Threads posts on Facebook, no opt-out option (what?!)

Are you already on the discussions? Are you? Are you? Well, it seems that’s the question on Meta’s mind, and he’s now working to give Threads some of that juicy popularity. Android Stock Report that Meta started promoting Threads posts on Facebook feeds.

Threads’ daily active users have dropped recently, but Meta isn’t abandoning the Twitter-like platform just yet. Meta plans to boost Threads engagement by including Threads posts in your Facebook feed to draw you in. The new feature is called “For You on Threads” and it appears on the Facebook feed along with popular Threads posts. Posts are automatically recommended, so you can’t just share your post on Facebook yourself.

It’s still unclear how Meta chooses which Threads posts to recommend on Facebook. On the other hand, some are concerned about how this feature could affect user privacy. Threads is designed for sharing content with a limited circle of friends, while publishing a Threads post on Facebook can attract more attention and expose it to a wider audience.

Currently, it doesn’t seem possible to remove Threads posts from Facebook. The company said it was “listening to feedback” and continuing to adjust the feature.

This growth strategy is not new for Meta. He also promoted Instagram Reels on the Facebook feed. Threads are currently also promoted on Instagram, but this is optional, while Facebook promotion currently does not allow you to opt out.

So far, Threads has over 130 million users. It experienced a few months of stagnation in its growth, as well as a drop in its usage. We’ll see how Meta’s latest move will influence things.
