Priced at $29.99 , this new product features a new oval design, more robust construction and several impressive features.
The Galaxy SmartTag 2 differs from the diamond design of its predecessor, adopting a more elegant oval shape. Notably, the keyhole has been enlarged and now incorporates a durable metal ring to resist wear and tear. Users can choose between classic black or pristine white options, and the device is IP67 certified for dust and water resistance, ensuring its durability in various conditions.
A notable feature is the hidden button cell battery, which can be easily replaced by the user. Samsung claims the SmartTag 2 can last up to 500 days of use and extend it up to 700 days in power-saving mode, providing peace of mind for those worried about frequent charging .
One notable addition is the all-new Lost Mode, which allows users to enter their contact information via message. This means that if someone discovers an item with a Galaxy SmartTag 2 attached, they can simply use their smartphone to scan the tag and access the owner’s message and contact details, simplifying the returns process.
Samsung didn’t stop with hardware improvements. The Galaxy SmartTag 2 offers an enhanced Compass View feature, improving the user experience by providing clear arrows to indicate the direction and distance from the SmartTag 2 to the user. This feature is available on any Galaxy smartphone that supports UWB, including the Galaxy S23 Ultra.
The SmartThings Find app has also received a significant upgrade. Newly registered Galaxy SmartTags will install a shortcut to the app on the user’s smartphone, allowing faster access to SmartThings Find. The app now features a full-screen map view and a more intuitive interface, making it even easier for users to locate their belongings.
Of course, the Galaxy SmartTag 2 also retains the essential tracking features found in previous generation products. Users can trigger a ringtone, view the distance of the marked item on their phone, and check its location through Samsung’s apps.
