Galaxy S24 vs iPhone 15: which will be the better bang for your buck?،
Introduction
So, since we’re talking about the two biggest rivals in the smartphone market here, it’s only natural for us to want to compare these two phones and see how they differ or are similar. Now, yes, it’s usually the “Ultras” and “Maxes” that get the most attention, but we’d say the entry-level models are just as important!

Design and size
More similar than before
The next Galaxy S24 and the new iPhone15 will likely be similar in size and weight, giving buyers a smaller flagship phone at a decent price. But the similarities might not end there this time around, as rumors have swirled that Samsung will approach the design of its next flagship phone line a little differently.
Here are some images that show what the S24 will look like:
If Samsung really goes for this new look with its next vanilla flagship, then the camera layout and colors will be the design elements that differentiate these two phones the most, at least when it comes to appearance. Speaking of colors, here are the different options for each device.
- Phantom white (or probably gray)
- Phantom Purple (or could be Violet)
- Phantom Black
- Gold (or could be yellow)
In terms of protection, both phones will be IP68 water and dust resistant. However, one area where the iPhone might continue to be a bit ahead is the durability of its screen. Apple’s “Ceramic Shield” glass panel that protects the iPhone15Samsung’s display was found to be more scratch-resistant than the Gorilla Glass option Samsung chooses with its flagships.
Display differences
THE iPhone15 has a screen that is arguably one of the best on the market in terms of image quality. That being said, it has a major drawback which clearly places it behind compared to Galaxy S24 (or S23 for that matter), and it’s 60Hz refresh rate. On the other hand, the Galaxy S24 it’s more than likely that it will continue to feature a smooth 120Hz display like its predecessor.
Aside from refresh rate and brightness, both phones will have similarly sized OLED displays offering stellar contrast levels, color reproduction and accuracy, as well as HDR performance. Suffice it to say, we expect the S24 to deliver a great experience when it comes to viewing visual content.
Performance and software
Nothing special
The truth is that, leaving aside the Exynos chipset, both the Snapdragon 8 generation 3 and the A16 Bionic are complete powerhouses and are very good at everything that can be added to them, so the real-world experience should be just as enjoyable with either phone.
A major advantage that comes with iPhone15 is that Apple promises a longer software support window than Samsung. More specifically, we are talking about a minimum of 6 years for the iPhone and 4 years for the Galaxy.
Camera
The iPhone still lacks a telephoto lens, unlike the Galaxy
So far, the rumors have yet to suggest anything that would suggest revolutionary improvements to the Galaxy S24The camera system. So we expect the same 50 + 12 + 10MP combination of the main, ultra-wide and 3X telephoto cameras. This last point is, however, important, because iPhone15 does not have a third dedicated telephoto lens. Instead, it comes with a 2X crop sensor that does a very good job of preserving image quality, but still can’t compare to a true telephoto lens. Not to mention that 3X is generally more useful than 2X.
If you are not interested in a telephoto lens, then the iPhone15 might turn out to be the best choice, as its new 48 MP main image sensor and the 24 MP photos it produces by default are simply incredible, as we found out in our review. But, who knows, Samsung might respond to this and also add a higher megapixel mode to the S24 to fully utilize its 50 MP main camera. After all, reports indicate that Samsung plans to focus on software with this generation’s camera prowess.
Audio and haptic quality
Flagship-quality sound, but the iPhone could be better
When it comes to haptics, iPhones generally have a slight advantage in this segment, but Samsung’s flagship series come pretty close, so the S24 should still feel good.
Battery life and charging
Nothing remarkable, almost the same
There are rumors that Samsung will finally improve the charging speeds of its flagships. The bad news is that these rumors say that only the S24 Ultra and S24 Plus will have a 65W wired charging speed. The vanilla S24, on the other hand, would stay at 25W. Although Apple does not specify to what extent iPhone15 supports, it is most likely close to the same number.
Wireless charging should also be the same for both phones, with a maximum of 15W. One downside to the iPhone is that only MagSafe chargers are capable of reaching this speed.
The only difference between the S24 and iPhone15 in terms of load, it will be that the iPhone15 can only reverse charge via USB-C to USB-C cable, while the S24 also has reverse wireless charging. The speed is 4.5W for both.

The technical sheet reveals something very simple that promotes Galaxy S24, and it is that Samsung offers buyers more for their money, at least on paper. You get a telephoto lens, more base storage, and a smooth 120Hz refresh rate, which the iPhone15 doesn’t.
Summary
So obviously, on paper, Galaxy S24 has a better CV. You get that 3X telephoto lens, a brighter (allegedly) and smoother display, and in many areas where it doesn’t sound any better than the iPhone15, it probably matches it or comes close to it. All this for the same price of $799, the big difference being that Samsung phones go on sale very often.
For now, at least, it looks like Samsung’s next entry-level flagship will give the iPhone15 a run for his money. That’s not to say the iOS competitor has nothing to offer. You get long software support and more durable glass. There’s also a good chance that the iPhone will still be better at shooting video, and perhaps photos, thanks to an overall better main camera.
