Jalen Hurts wears leg brace in 2nd half as Eagles top Dolphins،
PHILADELPHIA — Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts played the second half of Sunday night’s 31-17 win over the Miami Dolphins with a double to his left leg.
The injuries were not detailed after the match, but a source said it was believed to be a knee injury.
“Everything will be fine,” Hurts said, but when asked if this was something that would affect him in the future, he said, “I hope not.”
Hurts on Sunday rushed 11 times (three of them kneeling) for 21 yards and a touchdown while throwing for 279 yards with two touchdowns and an interception. He rushed three times in the second half.
Hurts appeared to grimace as he ran off the field after the game. His teammates said he played through the pain.
“I don’t want to talk about his stuff, but he’s a tough person,” wide receiver AJ Brown said.
“Our style of play, sometimes he rushes and can get stung,” added right tackle Lane Johnson. “But he does a good job. He never really shows it, never complains or anything.”
Hurts came out of the tunnel late in the second half, and backup Marcus Mariota warmed up on the sideline in his absence, creating some confusion over who would be under center when the offense took the field again.
Coach Nick Sirianni, however, said there was no doubt Hurts would continue to play.
“He played the rest of the game and played at a very high level,” Sirianni said. “I thought he played really outstanding. Man, he’s a competitor. There’s no one else. I’d rather be our quarterback. He played hard tonight. He’s tough. “
Hurts had two giveaways in the game, including a pick-six, bringing his total turnovers to 10 this season – second-most in the NFL behind Desmond Ridder of the Atlanta Falcons. Hurts has thrown an interception in a career-high three straight games.
But he continues to generate points and Philadelphia continues to win, improving to 6-1 on the year.
On a night when the Eagles donned Kelly green jerseys, Hurts tied Randall Cunningham for the most rushing touchdowns by an Eagles quarterback (32).
“It’s crazy,” Hurts said. “It’s pretty cool to do that with your old jersey.”
When asked what to expect this week in terms of following up on his injury, Hurts said: “Nothing too much. Just prepare for the next opponent.”
