Dyche hits out at ‘bizarre’ ref decisions in Liverpool loss،

Everton manager Sean Dyche has criticized “bizarre” refereeing decisions during his side’s 2-0 defeat to Liverpool in the Merseyside derby at Anfield on Saturday.

A late double from Mohamed Salah secured all three points for Liverpool, who played the majority of the match with an extra man due to Ashley Young being sent off in the first half after picking up two yellow cards.

Dyche, visibly angered by the decision, became even more furious in the second half after Liverpool defender Ibrahima Konate was not shown a second yellow card for his challenge on Beto.

Dyche’s reprimands earned him a yellow card from referee Craig Pawson.

“It’s a weird nature of the modern game,” Dyche told TNT Sports in his post-match interview.

“How they got 11 to 0-0 [players] on the ground, I don’t think anyone knows why. Their manager certainly didn’t bring the player off immediately because he shouldn’t be on the pitch anyway. It’s obviously been a game-changer.”

Asked if he thought Young’s first-half sending off was fair, Dyche replied: “The problem is how do you judge now? Their player commits a ridiculous foul, for which he should get a yellow card, probably worse than Ashley Young’s first. . The second one should be a yellow card. But the first…

“It’s no use. I’m going to get myself into trouble. I don’t know how I got a yellow card. All my staff got a yellow card. There’s no way we could get a yellow card with such performance, but anyway, we did it.”

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp also admitted that refereeing decisions had a huge impact on the result.

“I liked a lot of moments and then the red card had a big influence on the match. I wanted us to be calm and not know that we were a man ahead. It’s difficult in the stands because it’s “It’s like now we have to create with everyone in possession and it took us a while to have chances,” he told the BBC.

“Ibrahima could have left, yes. That could have happened obviously and then we eliminated him and from that moment on we were solid and compact.”
